The Sphinx Enigma II - In The Name of The Rose II

The famous Enigma of The Sphinx was solved so I thought if there could be a follow up due to modern times: the one could be “what tool Humans can need starting with four of them, then two, then 2 to 4, then maybe 4 or none”. The answer could be “The Wheel”. Since (if you are lucky of course since somewhere there is no chance) you could start riding a bike with two small helpers… then be able to ride it. Then your choice if a motorbike or car including three wheeled ones. Finally a Wheelchair, again 4 wheels,… if you were unlucky.

I liked the Centennial of 1908 New York - Paris immediately. 48.000 Km (or translate it in miles) were the most ancient Cannonball race possible at the Time. Of All Times maybe. Ina Olympic Year. In the Name of the Rose (red or white?) since it was the painting of a rose my grandma on mother side was given when her son was killed at 14 after torture. In the name of the Rose can also mean to learn safeguard Books, Knowledge, as well as put Passion and Enthusiasm in all you happen to do, with a special social accent. We are networked and we need mediation to, as soon as possible, talk. Row in the same direction. Nobody excluded. I liked the hypothesis of someone that we should be “United” - That is why I mentioned something about my background, to avoid misunderstandings since I had mysterious unknown doubts about many things:my Passport made me live the movie “terminal” situation, before than that was stolen, then returned. I liked the desert and Tourist singing the train of Tozeur even though I could see there two white 747 and no train. By now it has been restored. I asked a guide for the pictures of 2007 Festival of Sahara: I hope he will maintain his word. - “Unity” or “Unitall”. It all start with Unit. So it is not so positive since give the idea of individual. Good point but with maybe.. Humanity? is. Does not matter if at single Brain and HeartH level. “A macchia d’olio” will work wonders if Genuine. “Hyper networking” will be never enough. “Market-in” rather.

Since I always have in mind “If” by Rudyard Kipling and “The Praise of Folly” by Erasmus, it was just natural I would end up in a hospital for 20 days and see specialist doctors after. You know what? It made sense to rehearse. Someone said “You go 1500… you must learn to slow down, run at 1000 so that others can keep pace”. I did not find nice to give voice to my inner thoughts.. “yes I already learned that lesson.. if at birth Time I had sit on a bench and let all the other millions of runners overtake me saying don’t worry about me I would not have born in this troublesome Life”. I do not think the DOctor meant doublemeaning about the cc of the car since I did already 500 and this time is 7200+. “Why are you in a hurry?” was a question. Simple because in 1908 things went speedier than today. Or so it seems. I particularly liked the idea, another hypothesis, of what a Person as Gandhi could have done if having new communication technology things. Maybe we have many Gandhis and many Antonio Scarfoglio but… but… Sure is HeartH wants our attention. North Pole is “moved” (emotions) and crying or melting to give ourselves a message. If it keeps going this way we will end up useless carrots of ice in a big (or small) fridge. If you give away your computer and then it is grilled somewhere else to get back metals, the air will come to us sooner or later.

1st of July 2008: The Project has started and will from tomorrow morning be prepared the document PDF 1.1 (and so on) with individual contacts. Supporters, Moral or Material are all welcome. A Presence to China Olympic Welcomed. Involvement starting from all the Companies mentioned in Assets and Countries where any have branches too.

A MACCHIA D’ OLIO. Dedicated to Lorenzo and his Parents.

I am sorry I did not make it in Time and the post where I mentioned went Lost. But wished to express Condolences and I have done it in one of the posts that went attacked - still there in a backup sql file I managed to rebuild -.

I have another reason for having undertook this Project and this is very personal since it relates to MS (Multisclerosis) and my Father who died although not of it.
I recall we explored all possible solution and even the mentioned “Lorenzo oil” together with E vitamin rich pills (out of Onagro or Primule. a flower). In the case of the Lorenzo oil it was forbidden to take out of the States unless you decided to become a smuggler putting it in shampoo bottles or the like. The Onagro pills were common in the UK, so in Switzerland, less in Italy. So special travel to get them.
The devastating reality is that in “some occasions” when you are hit and decide to become very determined you are left alone… alone with your decisions to explore new paths. A bit the reason of the escape of brains abroad, as they call it. If more would be helped with better networking we would benefit in many areas towards a better and happier living. If you are “fast” and “forward” they sometimes will decide to slow you down…. Remore… like the fish attaching to bigger ones. Lets’ swim without remore.

We all are Ambassadors of the Country we have on our Passport or we were just born. Especially when abroad. This is the message I tried make feel aware of many tourists I happened to be in contact with. It is not rare the occasion where we spent some time even just for the sake of a nice talk. I am not going to make any politically correct or not correct statement. Italian is as any other Country Person. We tend yet to have different habits, as already said. I liked a lot the following by Bruno Bozzetto (dates back to 1999):

I must admit something has changed since 1999… something, I did not say all. Sometimes you can get to see Italians in a line while waiting their turn. The efficiency gets at its tops when we talk Football. Managers are released immediately if they did not win a Cup. Some managers in a Team are released immediately even if they won. One minute of silence is the maximum you could get in memory of a tragedy. If the same approach would be taken about “all the rest” I guess we would be… wow… It was not to mix a clash of themes. It was just to try put a motivational smile and a new energy for tomorrow to my dear reader.

Disclaimer: do not feel safe if you are not Italian. I can still mention the Cling film mistery: in the Uk is labelled with warnings about the possibility of cancer if put at direct contact with cheeses or fats. Not so in Italy. We ALL went through a Chicken fear syndrome. I found interesting that in the last recent times much canned food, fro animals or humans, is about Chicken, homogenized food for infants included. I recall a warning about asparagus and 37 years since Chernobyl to be “better” to eat them. Before they were nearly rare food, now everywhere. Are we aware of what we do or tomorrow we will not remember what happened today, let alone yesterday?
If you are a field owner do not make wind blow genes on the neighbour field. We are not sure yet that flying very fast at 88.000kmh AGAINST the Earth rotational speed will bring us in the Past.

Wargames & Sim City (SC2K) &… Tech

Let’s talk about Movies and Games, I said that earlier but some posts went lost so I have to repeat a bit. We are 3D. As Humans but also Animals, Plants, We all have a physical size on this physical size Hearth, even our Heart - and Earth -.. HEarth to short a bit the two concepts. HEartH to be a bit more precise.

Often if we want to represent our Generation as results of what (amd who) we were, we cannot (we could not in the past..to be precise) find a better solution than drawing a Tree. Can you imagine a 3D Tree including places and all relevant and relative to Time in absolute terms. We are who we are. In fact thinking - see nepotism, the ius primae noctis - see Manzoni the writer - or different but similar concept, where the son, of the sister of the uncle of the grandfather of…., has special accesses to careeers or business or .. politics… hmpf… I said it again.

The movies Wargames (despite or extremely chosen appropriate name of a nice movie - or at least I enjoyed it -) showing two concepts in one. What a “small” brain can do and what is better not to do (War or enter other property systems ina apublic or hidden way does not matter if for commercial or “other” reasons). We need to open Windows a bit and let some fresh air come through. I remember that in the past for a while, amongst intellectual and artists, it became fashion to open a small hole in their crane (the hyper piercing could be called). It seemed it gave some different sensations… You know what? That particular area of our body in Italian is called “Fontanella” (small fountain). Now scientific research says that all could be originated by a common shape. A stick. a stick whose top has a fountain and much as stalactites and stalagmites would deposit sediments over sediments. According to Dna and/or Genome (sorry I am not a scientist)
we would have ourself or a butterfly.

When my reading out of a “Readers’ Digest” book years ago became the Project with lots of things falling in place - 1908 New York - Paris - especially when I could read the book in Italian by Antonio Scarfoglio, (”away to lunch”)-(”back from lunch”), and even before that discover there was an extraordinary accent of Italianity - The Made in Italy - in a Global yet Glocal International worldwide context and challenge. The World was not made in one day. Italy neither. And even here Antonio Scarfoglio had a role, together with his Family.And mine (Family), and Yours. Yet there are still Nations without physical space..without Country, or viceversa. The nomad Gipsies, but also the people from Fiume, just two samples, you mention. I could imagine also the Beduins that have the desert as theirs. Just because nobody likes to live in a desert? Yet I could see people somewhere without “nothing” but having all, and feel Happy. It is hard to say they do not exist. I am no “Mr Messerschmitt” as someone calls a “I-know-it-all” person. Labelling People is the problem.
Then you must bear in mind what are the warnings from the past. “Sometimes” Pretexts originated a war. See again that movie in the subject of this post. And “The lawnmover man” (Il Tagliaerbe). Orwell,

Once upon a time… there was telegraph. Then telephone, radio, Tv…. now we are in another critical step.. wireless. It dies not matter if you call it Wi Max, Wifi… I just remember an old number of electronic self teaching (I can even sold properly…) where there were talks about Gigahertz transmission. You could transmit and connect two point as far as 5 Km at the time. I recall a warning though… and it was about eyes. Never look into this trumpet shape tweeter (much as audio…) because you could have retina damages they said. Now we talk Giga everything.. are we sure there is no damages somewhere in us? When someone tries to sell something you are not extremely sure about I am used to ask the seller.. “would you give it to your children and feel safe for the next 5000 years it will not affect 1 second of their life?”. It seems odd but it works.. you get “funny faces”. I guess I have covered the three topics of the title for now… time to make telephone calls…

Thinking it over during other activities some further reason to mention a specific version of SimCity (2000) came was at the origin of posts. It is very Educational and Very difficult to “go through”. You can start your town in the past and make Time slowly go by or run very fast. A “trick” I learned (much better game than Monopoly or Risiko for example to talk other educational games in the meaning that you learn a lot about many things at once) is that the town will grow better if the Power (not in the meaning of you being the Mayor) is taken out of small dams. Clean Power. In the Project I decided to undertake or “give a hand” (or two) Wastes is something that disfigure Naples. Not just Naples, really. We have wastes under our feet, very close to our resources, we have wastes in us making us “oxide” hence get old, and, last but not least, we have wastes above our heads. Floating in Space. The Sun is our Power. Thinking it over I asked myself: why we do not trade power: Sun is shining so much somewhere - too much maybe - and can give Electricity. Wind is blowing in some other places. Water is falling too much in others. Yet we all go out buy our Water. Why don’t we trade Solar electricity for Water where is missing. Potatoes for Flowers and viceversa. Chicks for artisan work…. Tourism makes you, us, aware. If Genuine and sustainable. Why don’t we bring down all that iron flying up in space there today and recycle it today? Animals do not have voice but I am sure they would agree.

While finishing off the new www.newyorkparis.org website to receive material, first of three, I would like to repeat - see loss of data by an attack - that this Project is, since worldwide, dedicated to all ICAO coded airports and the persons to whom the airport - small or big - is dedicated to.
A big thanks to all supporters in a undertaking aimed to bring Smiles and Culture. Using two hands up not to surrender but to shake them with your neighbour. Can you make it?

P.S.: I took a maple leaf as a sample earlier… Please note that in 1965 The movie “La Grande Corsa” was delivered and… The famous flag with a Maple Leaf on it became the official Canadian flag. Musically.. well… “The Maple Leaf” Ragtime, by Scott Joplin, in the version of album “Emerson Lake & Palmer Works - Volume II”, Keith Emerson with the London Philarmonic Orcherstra. Now I will go back to hear “Rondo’ Veneziano “Venezia 2000 ” because is energetic and I must finish some web work, by the way their music was what I was listening when… the Important is that Venezia and all town, really, north or south, east and west, will be feeling - and BE - safe. I guess soon we will need also to include the Ice melting speed daily weather news and all get involved in it. Otherwise.. Adagio by Albinoni.. while sinking. Please note that the Instant hit, at the time, “The Maple Leaf Rag” will also give opportunity to celebrate anniversary to Scott Joplin and all his masterpieces.. so.. do not shoot on the pianist. Name that Flag - Updated

A quick word about the Flag used at www.newyorkparis.org since the specific past post is still to be recovered and I would like to avoid misunderstandings. Taken from a front real picture of Antonio Scarfoglio and his Team on board their car at departure in 1908, it depicts one of the flags as used at the time. To be exact the “Regia Marina” (Royal Navy).

As widely known the Italian current flag bears no symbols apart the three stripes, green, white and red. There is one exception though and that is the current Navy one (Marina Militare) where a shield bears a representation of the first 4 “sea republics” or Thalassocracies (Venezia, Genova, Amalfi, Pisa mentioned in the order west to east, top to bottom) depicted under a crown. The crown distinguish Military from Merchant vessels as proposed in 1939. A further difference is there between Merchant and Military version of the Marina flag. Tht is the Lion of Venice. In the “Merchant” version the Lion holds the opened book instead of a sword. The one used on the website for 1908 New York Paris is then the “alternate version” (bigger white “bubbles”) of the one used on the car at the time. The Flag of Mexico is very similar to Italian but with different symbols.

With an uncle dead as young as 14, international partisan, on the last day of war in 1945 - this is another matter that pushes me to support this project - I could not avoid thinking sometimes more sometimes less that maybe He - and many unknown - died of his instinct in the direction of what He felt was right (or wrong). As far as I know he carried somebody from England on his shoulders across the mountains, while stranded. I know it was exceptional times.
What I keep asking myself is.. did He die, with all before, together, and after him, for what we are today? For what we have today? To be or to have? I would say Behave…at least.
Common Sense has no flag, Benefits all and Happiness is no easy Quest. We all are networked and if you look at a dried maple leaf (to mention a sample) you will see that those roots of the Tree went narrower and narrower through branches then leaves that could be considered hands to the sky. With their own circulation system. Someone said on radio today that starting this summer we could be out of ice on the North Pole.

Iam appalled , thinking about my uncle and his missed Life, to see or hear often slapdash behaviours. Without many as my uncle some would not be here today. I met arrogant People, or maybe just fearful. It does not matter if an “X” was in their surname or not. Cap Bon or not. But it seems odd to hear someone once begging for a whatever role now playing the role of the “Deus ex Machina” of a Country. It is similarly odd - disgusting? - to hear today someone else talking licentious about others, someone who in his official professional past role used to point fingers at others as a new Salomon and/or Cicero. In this last case are missing the Cicero Culture in its practical form and, sorry to say, many believed until later, for a noble cause rather than wheels.

Nepotism, proselytism, lobbying are the defect we have to face in a face up card game. You can use different words and you will get different translations each in own country or area. I like to smile a bit since we have one Life only and I do not have a preference worth to express here. “Res Publica” (Republic - the Public “thing”, where a salary was given to avoid corruptions and or being too worried about food) or “Monarchy” (”the First King probably was the first farmer who decided to give a stick on the head of his neighbour”.. just a witty saying no insult intended.) or “Else”.

It is funny in Italy because communications are in Private Hands. Which could be an asset. But “Who controls on the controller?”. Usual old saying wisdoms….

“GIRO GIRO TONDO CASCA IL MONDO CASCA LA TERRA TUTTI GIU’ PER TERRA” it is a well known children age chant and game. Shall we play to see if it is true or to make our (and next generation) Life better… all… recently there was a FAO gathering and 2008 seems to have been declared the Potato Year since easy way to “implement” disadvantaged areas… What about chicks (male, the animal) being crushed (sorry no better word) to make a cream out of them? Maybe they could help even if males? I am Feminist, my friends know about witty remarks. But here we talk serious things. I am used since ever to call a “Big Potato” a “Big Event” to organize (no visual hidden or implicit, explicit, talking) such as a Company gathering. And you must start from somewhere to start peeling a big potato, in the meaning of making this event possible. It appears few know that IBM comes from a logic out of the most famous HAL computer. “I” is the letter after “H”, “B” is the letter after “A”, “M” is the letter after “L”. Once I had sitting by me a Manageress on a Flight after a “Convention” (You know, one of those where you invite talkers to make brain and smiles work together, often for a fee) and she was surprised to learn about it. I like to learn, the best way to travel and viceversa, and I could immediately spot an outstanding event in 1908. Instead of running alternatives on your own why not join? It helps to clean out the Pond, go our of Mud. Wherever you build someone will have to buy. No Money, No Food, No Hearth, No Party.

Mr Antonio Scarfoglio went on and on very slowly. We also search for Mr Haaga and Mr Sirtori. We look for them, actually.

“/” “Six Days Seven Nights” 2118 actually

Somebody surely will have seen the link to a “motivational” called 09/12 on this weblog. After having found a 09/11 deeply touching presentation I thought I could, it took some days of work, send a message of optimism. To Honor my colleagues of 1991 since I was at Chicago as French Qualified International Flight Attendant training at UAL EXOIT TK. Land and Inflight colleagues both European and International, whether met or not. I tried to establish what was the “nose number” of “Flight175″ but it seems there is still debate about it. I found it most appropriate to talk about this apparently “unrelated” phase while it affected me very much also in the future. Good and Bad.

My direct experience at UAL was short and both positive and negative. But I am told one of the few Europeans (as a Senior Caledonian Airways lady recruitment manager said) that although released (unfairly as per documentation), especially at such a stage of “wings giving” rehearsal, “managed to go inflight again after a UAL release”. They had a humongous number of “sudden returns of potential cabin crew in tears and demotivated to the job. The concept they used to push was “if you cannot make it with us you are not worth”. It was 1991, does it remind you anything we see in 2008 on Tv screen,on some variant of Big Brother broadcast? . Talking about Caledonian Airways (KT pronounce “Katy”) before they had such a shortage of applicants to be forced to move to later date the deadline for cabin crew (as it is called in the UK) application or recruitment processing. One of the few to get my Wings as they commonly are called. I owe a lot to Caledonian Airways for the Trust and Honesty, I owe little, “maybe I have a credit from them”, to UAL for the “dodgy” approach in general at the time. Why?… “Simple”… as they were used to say .. “anybody able to read can be a Flight Attendant”, while experiencing unattended trainings for cost reasons. And a tad of brain massaging called “Programming” - yes, you can be Programmed - to the point that usually a sample Airline “2″ does not particularly like to hire somebody coming from Airline “1″ since he/she should be de programmed and re programmed. Not cost and time efficient. And fear of less motivation to the Company.

As anybody liking to fly knows, does not matter if Pilot or Cabin Crew, there is a lot of Empathy amongst Colleagues. Smile is a must but caring for the Other is also a Must. An aircraft and crew is strategic equipment by the way. A piece of Land of the country owning the aircraft. In fact you can marry or deliver a baby if you happen to and he/she will have such nationality. Safer than a Bus but a tad more complicated. You work ahead for the Crew that will takeover the airplane so that they find it in order as you normally should. The Basic Etiquette of Civil Aviation. Civile in Italian means also Educated (of manners). I do not know if on some of those terrible flights (it reminds me the Titanic, to give another sample of vivid after years memory, although that was fatality) there was somebody I had met or not. But sure is some is mourning someone. and not few. Forever. I have in front of me a booklet called “Inflight Announcements” Rev. 7/91 with an Introduction of EXOLA July 1991. Actually there is a Precover with a message to ALL FLIGHT ATTENDANTS by the Director - Onboard Services Planning. Page 52 is titled “Short Notice Emergency Landing Preparation (Under 10 minutes) - expected and judged by you as a flight attendant or who started to declare the emergency, as a note -. Booklet 973-8587-BO575. But you are trained also to talk following Impromptu based on the situation you might happen to have to handle… so I wonder… When I had to blog explaining symbols such as “/” it came again in my mind the probably willingly chosen way to approach and hit a tower with that inclination: it was meant to cut more floors than one. It was meant to make it collapse and “slide down” in a specific direction. Why?

As anybody I recall perfectly what I was doing on that day, as many do, taking care of Medical Congresses on another Continent. Actually after the first hit I immediately “sensed” a second was about to do the same.. seen you could see it approaching in a too direct line, watching Tv. The sense of understanding of what was to happen in those seconds and impossibility to do “something about it”.
Needless to say the rest we all got to know. But I perfectly recall the specific question at training from our group of trainees… “Let’s say we are eleven on board - flight attendants - what happens if all 520 pas stand up or assault us?”. It was considered a “stupid question”. The concept “never assume” at work. While a doubt - even small - making you assuming is healthy in the long term…Because you never know… what if it is not as it seems? That kind of apparently uncomfortable questions. We were told that all is experimental in airline (as in Life I would say) and in fact, as talking about the free fall of a cat, the Pilot will do he/she’s best to at least approach a ditch or land… not upside down. The inflatable slides would be very little use in that case.

The experience I had was much in line with a general attitude where UAL (inheriting or purchasing Ex Pan-Am fly routes) decided to follow, using cosmetic turnovers to “trick” European Community Labor requirement. In order to have so many Americans working in Europe, they should recruit so many Europeans. A Ratio. So free open interviews promising wonders. But it was not reality. In fact the most experienced ones who had quit their Company decided to phone home and go back to their Airline. Any good - or not perfect - “excuse” would be a way to release on unknown grounds in 45 minutes from what was commonly called “The Prison” (EXOIT). Some MIB’s would make sure you’d be out in 45 minutes without contact with anyone of your course or Company. My case as usual is different. I made it up to last test flight on the Intercontinental sector BUT before taking a LHR->AMS Intraeuropean route, a Mr John Pender came out from nowhere (supposed to be at ORD EXOIT) and with a “nice smile” said.. “I am sorry, you did not pass… be at (mentioning the airport place) in one hour and hand out your uniform” (that I paid and paid taxes on entering Great Britain, by the way). They calculated an overall average of 88,76% performance (a not passing value) while, based on simple math, my average was AT LEAST 92.45 - A Very well passing score even without considering some photocopied signs of blanked scores…. Add guess what? On my intercontinental test flight I discovered a since ever missing fire extinguisher - supposed to be there and check listed as “seen” by many eyes at every take off and landing -. Is there an American Lawyer who would like to have a go? Surely FAA often was provided “not so truthful declarations of having inspected (seen) an aircraft” by a Flight Attendant Trainee (by the dozens I mean)….. Again somebody asked.. “But.. we did not see it”… a prompt answer “If you want the job…”.

So it was an outstanding experience being at EXOIT. In the Bad (sometimes) where assumptions were made about Humans, just from different Cultures, there to be colleagues, learn to be, on the same… Flying Boat. “Europeans” seemed to be an issue there at those times. “Less” somehow. But Very Good about Learning about the inner Yourself, how you would react in a random situation, deciding if it is Emergency or just a Roast going burn in the oven, or condensations smoke, your limits. Your very much real Limits…Decisions in a split second… All seemed so real that… it was simulation (in our training) topped up with - brain - programming. I wonder. I wonder why I often felt to be one of those colleagues. The moments of realtime passing by, awaiting the - tragic - unknown. To feel in someone’s shoes, we say. These shoes have been flying very high, too high. And I am sure they must have tried all the possible to find a way out of a situation that could seem real in a peace situation.

Someone says I have “gifts”, I prefer to say an incredible visual memory with logic. I was studying a way, a rehearsal, to approach this incredible project “1908 New York - Paris” to make it a motivational, as said, to keep in consideration and in memory of past situations yet pushing us - I mean All…- to help smile, to Happiness, to the Future.

I probably did it. Too realistic, mixing also some nightmares I guess are remainders of those “gifts” and “programmings”, and my mother got real worried. She could not imagine I was “in control” so Ambulance was called yet I had also Police on my door (and a Friend Doctor to witness) and I was invited to follow them for just a quick check on a ambulance while I was, rugby style, blocked and tackled. I will not mention someone playing “horse riding” while sat on my back… (please note that “blocked and tackled” is also a not so nice marketing technique). A man on the ambulance, presenting a card with a name that could sound about a comedian proposed me to sign a form. I refused and asked to be freed immediately, the presence of someone regarding my Italian Abroad status in England. None of this happened and I found myself in a Hospital where I asked to sign out on my own responsibleness. Guess what? I was under a TSO that translates more or less Compulsory Sanitary Treatment. Short: you are hostage of a Doctor for at least 7 days and it can be extended at Doctor disposal. From checking in 6th June I managed to get out on 26th same month… and plenty (costly…) prescriptions for a free bios update of your Brain… How do you like it? “just doing a rehearsal”. It started that way, The travel of Antonio Scarfoglio went much longer than 20 days… sometime in the mud, others in the snow, so I guess this will be another indicator of what this “1908 New York - Paris” meant. I cannot call Crazy a Man who, without certainties, decided to undertake such a mission. No certainty about return. I promised my support and I am very much ready to deliver with the support of everybody. As intended. Your help is appreciated. The car is not painted the correct colour (Grey) let’s make it be red intentional for the colour of blood, the “hearth”. A Va-lentino Red? I know this is a double meaning very simple… the name of a stylist (investor of) also meaning go..very slow. In fact they all, in 1908, went very slow… It’s raining cats and dogs here in Torino… a message?
